Moving Beyond "Special" - Trends, Practices, and Benefits in Building Inclusive Nonprofit Organizations

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This session is sponsored by the Oregon Community Foundation.

For decades, we were told that - for people with disabilities - "special" was better. Special education. Special sports. Special jobs. As laws, policies, and expectations have evolved, communities have become increasingly more inclusive of people with disabilities (whether physical, developmental, or intellectual) in education, employment, housing, and yes – in the nonprofit sector.

Stephen Marc Beaudoin will co-present this session with self-advocate Kaaren Londahl, linking current trends and policy developments with real world examples of the power of inclusion, and will share practices and resources so your nonprofit organization can become more inclusive in your services, your boards, and your staff.
